Spider-Man 2 was the game, for many, that most let us feel like Spider-Man before Insomniac came along and took it to new heights.
There is also an undeniable love for 2004's Spider-Man 2 and that was echoed in the vote as it placed fourth just ahead of Ultimate Spider-Man. I think it's safe to say Insomniac has the formula down for making Spider-Man games that resonate with millions around the world as Marvel's Spider-Man from 2018 and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales followed right behind the sequel in spots #2 and #3 with winning percentages of 88.9% and 80.3%, respectively. The next one might be even better, but for now, as far as the IGN staff is concerned this is the best Spider-Man game ever made.' Moreover, the story of Kraven’s hunt and the Venom symbiote is as impactful as it is exciting, with fantastic performances from the whole cast giving it a hefty emotional weight. Getting to seamlessly switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales keeps the gameplay fresh, and the addition of web wings to help fly across the vastly expanded city alongside traditional swinging is a godsend. 'There’s no disputing that it’s more of the same to some degree, but the improvements layered on top of the excellent combat and web-slinging absolutely make this a crowning achievement.
'Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a triumph Insomniac just keeps getting better and better at making Spider-Man games,' we say in that ranking.
